Tottenham 0-1 West Ham – Premier League Matchweek 36 Review

Our first goal conceded, and our first game lost at the new stadium, but again results went our way following the Saturday lunchtime game, so we are still in prime position to get top 4, and even better, third place. So all in all its only frustrating that it went to West Ham!

It was a stronger XI than I first expected, Son started purely because he was ineligible to play in the first leg against Ajax. Other than that, Trippier did not play, neither did Jan due to fatigue apparently. We started basically every attacking player we had, but still didn’t find a way through. It appeared to em as though we never really got out of second gear, with one eye on the semis. Not to discredit our opponents though as West Ham were very good as they always are against us.

The game was a slower one, and it felt that way the entire game, with one goal deciding the game and the three points. We were probably on top just about on the first half, with minimal chances going our way. Son had a couple of chances, as did other players for us, however we couldn’t find a way through. It remained goalless at half time and with that I had a bad feeling about the result to come.

Second half arrived and West Ham definitely upped their game, and in the end probably deserved the win. Their goal came in 67th minute through Antonio, who latched onto Arnautovic’s pass and finished well past Lloris. They controlled the game and our best chance of the second half probably came right at the end when Janssen came on and had a header cleared off the line in added time. But we lost the game, and our first game at the new stadium.

Overall I think we have played okay in there though, not amazing. We scraped past Brighton and Man City, beat Crystal Palace and lost to West Ham. We are still learning there and hopefully will have a good record there next year. Now it’s onto Tuesday!

We have arguably the biggest game of our season (so far) in the week, and I hope we can somehow remain in the game for the second leg, and maybe keep a clean sheet in the process. Hopefully Sissoko and Vertonghen will be back, and we will be needing a big game from the likes of Dele and Eriksen. Huge game and a massive chance for us to prove ourselves. Do I think we can do it? Well when do we ever feel confident. Just got to get behind the boys and hope for the best!

As always thanks for reading.
